Karen Clark

Director

Karen is the previous owner and director of Karen's Kids Studio of Dance. For more than 45 years, Karen has been teaching dance, with 30 of them being in the Mid-Del area. During this time, she has set choreography for Junior High and High School musicals and show choirs. She has been a judge for several dance and pom competitions. She is also the former President of Oklahoma Dance Masters Association. Many of her students have gone on to perform on Broadway, in Branson, Las Vegas, and on cruise lines.

Tasha Hinex

Tasha grew up dancing in Shawnee, OK under the direction of Janet Combs. In high school she was a member and captain of the Pom Squad. She is a graduate with her BFA in Dance from the University of Central Oklahoma, a past member of Kaleidoscope Dance Company and past member of the UCO Pom squad. She worked 13 years with the National Dance Alliance as a Head Instructor and Choreographer, teaching high school and college pom camps across the United States. NDA has opened numerous doors including judging NDA High School Nationals, NDA All-Star Nationals and many regional competitions. She also had the opportunity to teach and judge the JCDA (Japanese Cheer Dance Association) in Japan. She starting coaching for Oklahoma City University Pom Squad in 2009 and lead them to win 5 National Championships. She continues to teach and choreograph for local studios and high schools and is an original company member of R.A.C.E. Dance Company

Lindsey Cardone

Lindsey is excited to be back teaching at her home, The Dance Department. This will be her sixth year teaching at the dance Department. Some of the classes she has taught include creative movement, tap, jazz, and hip-hop. Lindsey was also a dancer at the dance Department for 15 years. In those 15 years, Lindsey was a company member, her completion group competed in many regional competitions, and won numerous national titles. In addition, her group attended yearly conventions, including O.D.M.A, L.A.D.F, and Dancemakers. Lindsey competed as a tap soloist for 12 years, and was nationally recognized in various competitions. Lindsey is a recent graduate from UCO, and will be returning in the spring for her Masters in Family Life Education. Lindsey's motto is to "believe in yourself." She feels it is vital for her students to have self-confidence, and for them to know that she has faith in their abilities and goals.

Loni Briggs

Loni Briggs grew up dancing at The Dance Department for more than 15 years where I was a company member and won many national titles. After I graduated I began teaching jazz, tap, and lyrical. I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. I absolutely love teaching kids! Rather it is 5 year olds at dance or 4th graders in math. Teaching is my passion.

Rachael Dickson

Rachael Dickson has been dancing for 20+ years. I trained with Victory dance through-out grade school into high-school and went to University of Central Oklahoma to continue my education. I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with her BFA in dance performance and a minor in business administration.

Alicia Koczur-Shaw

Alicia Koczur-Shaw is a soon-to-be graduate of The University of Central Oklahoma’s Bachelors in Fine Arts program with her degree in Dance Performance. As a Connecticut native, she received a majority of her dance training from Rob Merante and Jeffrey Pelletier at Triple Threat Dance Company, where she trained in tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, and musical theater. In addition to her studio training, she worked as an assistant for Tremaine Dance Convention and Excel in Motion. Alicia has performed in numerous of shows around the country including: featured dancer in Oklahoma City University’s Home for the Holidays; ensemble in Whimsicality’s production of Music Man; featured dancer in University of Central Oklahoma’s Around the Globe, The Fall, and We are Human; and featured dancer in DIAVOLO On Tour. This is Alicia’s second year on The Dance Department faculty and she is beyond excited for what is to come!

Sherry Pierce

Office Manager

Sherry has been our Office Manager for more than 30 years. If you have any questions, Miss Sherry can give you the answer. She does our fabulous recital program each year. She is office manager, nurse, snack bar attendant, photo operator, and computer technician. Put those together and it makes Miss Sherry!
